  1. Thanks for this video Eric! Came at perfect timing as my startup is in the process of searching for an SEO hire. One question: You mentioned in-house SEO is critical if your company is producing a lot of content. Given that our focus is more on leveraging valuable press surrounding us + our industry and less on internal blog content, would you still suggest hiring internal SEO? We’re at tailend of bootstrapping and in Angel Investing stage. Thank you again for the great content!

  2. Thanks for the video Eric! I think a lot of blogs and people miss the point on promoting the content in order for SEO to be effective. Brian Dean does a great job in emphasizing email outreach in a personal way. Definitely building relationships with authority bloggers is important also.

I also notice that a lot of agency and SEO blogs don’t talk about building web assets. For example, creating a high quality blog in the health niche. Now you have a platform to produce high quality content but also generate some link opportunities for clients (via high quality guest posts, infographics etc.). It’s basically the same thing as creating a great piece of content for other authority blogs but its an asset. Not to mention the revenue opportunities it could generate.

I do this for my current blog in the firearm niche. Works like a charm.

Your forgot to mention Raven Tools. You can pull the same data from Majestic (citation flow and trust flow), and MOZ without needing those accounts. I contacted them regarding ahrefs API integration and they stated it might be coming soon.

Lastly, I think it’s important for SEO’s to know some basic programing. PHP, MySQL, schema markup, maybe a little JavaScript or jquery. It could help when quick edits are needed.

Good questions and keep up the good work!
