Google keyword tool is no longer available for public use, now you have to sign up for an Adwords account:

Things have changed quite a bit over the last few years with SEO. Now it’s easier to rank a page for multiple keywords as opposed to before, because Google likes seeing a diversity of related links coming into a page, and they can pick up what the site is about. Also there are various ways of searching for a specific keyword, so Google now takes that into account.
I believe Google already has a pretty good idea what the site is about, and look less at the backlink profile as much as they use to.
The title tag and meta descriptions are still useful.
Should you be looking to obtain more sales in your product, i would recommend using speed rank seo to get additional targeted traffic from search engines. Just google it.

Google keyword search doesn’t work unless you are running an ad campaign through google
PLEASE HELP! I thought using “competitive keywords” are bad, like Buy T shirts Online, since it has so much volume, wouldn’t it be a bad way to go? Since your competing against EVERY other company using that term. I thought using unique keywords, and variants with lower traffic are a better choice for driving potential customers to your online store?
