MASTERING WITH WAVES IN PRO TOOLS 11
In this video tutorial I show how to setup a mastering session in Pro Tools 11 utilizing Waves plugins from their Gold Bundle. I cover how to “Bounce to Disk” as well as how to setup a Print Track for file export.

  1. So it wouldn’t make any difference to my ears if you were to dither
it(22seconds) for the purpose of yur vid as an an example because dithering
is to just basically save the highs and lows mids from changing in an
external volume on a playback after the finish product is in say ‘public
    circulation(media)?

  2. This is a great lesson that I needed and I appreciate your artistry. I
found keys that will help my every all skills.

  3. CAN YOU SUGGEST WHERE TO GET SOME OF THESE, OR POSSIBLE BUNDLES. GREAT
VIDEO. I AM NEW TO PRO TOOLS AND RECORDING. THANKS SO MUCH.

  4. What if I wanted to make this track bigger and warmer overall. I know I can
remove the 16hz some in the EQ settings but that doesn’t seem to be enough.
Or is there something the Gold Bundle related to Tape Saturation feel. I’m
    still looking for that. Thanks

  6. The content IN the video is good. But the sound playback of the audio
trying to show results is not so good. Completely destroys the efforts
shown by a pretty good mastering tutorial video. And the fact there isn’t a
lot of good mastering videos on youtube makes you think that there should
be *extra efforts* on playback sound quality on a mastering tutorial.

A trained Eng knows the steps taken here but a non-trained eng may
completely miss the boat. None the less you gained a subscriber.

  7. Just a suggestion it may help to explain a little more of your use on the
C4. Why you chose the cross over points why your choosing to adjust the
Range at those threshold points and what is it doing. Just a thought.

  8. Presets are good to see what something does but in this case not a good
option for a tutorial. In “mastering” you never use a graduated A&R setting
across an entire master as shown with the preset. For example you would
never have a 900 ms release time on low end in a mastering session no ME
would do that. You suck the life and dynamics right out of your low end and
this track has ALOT of low end. Release time for a MBC in mastering mostly
has all bands set at the same release time or really close. Graduated A&R
settings on a MBC are mostly used on instruments and vocals or maybe a mix
for an effect *not a master*. Again I know it has it set like that in the
preset but it is completely off. Not even in the ball park and thats what
you use presets for, to be in the ball park. In addition it is impossible
to set a preset for a MBC because it doesnt know the BPM of the track.

  9. hey my name is bill i am pretty new to mixing and mastering with pro tools

  11. Thanks for the lesson. What is the 3rd party program that you are using to
    print and convert to 16bit?

  12. I just did my first Mastering following your video. Thank you very much.
Very easy to follow and understand.

  13. I just realized that my other mastering video is yours as well… LOL
I asked a question on your other video but will write it on this one as
well just in case you see this video first.
Do you always keep your pre-mastering levels on your track at -10,
regardless of the music genre you’re playing?

    Blessings,

  14. People are saying it’s a high master or bright but I think it’s because
while I was watching this video I noticed on Vitamin you forgot to take off
the bypass on the low frequency. But great video I still learned a lot from
    you.
