  1. Generally, if your master output goes too over 0db, your music will tend to
    clip and distort a bit. And for some speaker systems, sounds above 0db are
    harmful for the speakers. Thats why you should use limiters and compressors

  2. Heres my reply… yes.. but do it with individual elements, and bring down
    the gain so when the elements are summed it stays below the red,it depends
    on what you are trying to achieve.. i like to throw a limiter over a
    lead/pad to give it a BIG sound and it also gives slight distortion and
    brightetning, then i bring down the gain and send it to the master.. Also
    try sending the bassline and the kicks through a single mixer, compressing
    the fuck out of it and sending it to the master.. nice phat
